If you jump onto an unsecured internet connection with your laptop (ie too cheap to pay for an internet connection and your neighbor didn’t bother to secure their wifi), are the things you searched for traceable back to you some how even though you don’t technically have an internet account? Would you have to format your hard drive or are there some sort of numbers in your computer’s basic programming that could always link you to the items you searched for?

I am running on a modem through a phone line but the company i run through asked me if I would like to turn on my wireless, I told them sure because I am planning on getting a laptop. My neighbor has been getting my internet and I would like it to stop. I know you can put a password on the wireless. Can some one please give me details on how to put a password on my internet. I just bought a laptop and need cheap internet. My neighbor’s signals are lousy so I am not going that route. I really don’t want to use verizon and spend 40 a month. Triple Play is garbage so I don’t want to do that either. Any other cheap ways to get internet???

I just moved in, and I learned that I will not be able to get wired internet. So I am going to get a wireless adapter. I am going to be sharing internet with my neighbor but access is passworded. I dont know how to get my other laptop to work with internet. She gave me a password so I can have access but I dont know where to type it.
When I have my xbox live w/l adapter. Will I have the option to put that password to make it work?

Ok so i have an ibm thinkpad, and it runs on windows XP, I can connect to Wifi, cuz my neighbor has it without security, but when i go to internet, it comes up saying it can’t connect to internet. If i go to Tools, then internet options, i don’t really know what to do, something about lan.
