It knows the ethernet cable is there because every time I unplug it, it X’s out. Its enabled and everything. Right now I have it connected to a verizon router that is 100% connected to the internet. Im online now with a wireless card. But Cant get the ethernet connection to pick up internet. How can I get the internet through the ethernet port without the wireless card

I purchased a Belkin N router to go with my laptop and I am connceted to the router but I am unable to access the internet without utilizing the ethernet cable( which defeats the point of WIRELESS). I am not computer literate, so I am having some difficulty. Someone please help in laymans terms!

I have a DSL Modem upstairs. It has four Ethernet ports. My computer is plugged into one of the Ethernet ports with an Ethernet cable. It connects to the Internet through the Modem.
But the problem is, my other computer, my Xbox 360, and my PlayStation 2 are downstairs. How do I get the Internet connection from the DSL Modem upstairs to work with my PC, 360, and PS2 downstairs? Do I need to buy a Wireless Router, put it downstairs, and have it wirelessly connect with the modem upstairs? I cannot run 3 Ethernet cables from downstairs to upstairs, mainly because it isn’t very practical, but also because my computer room upstairs and my computer/game room downstairs are on opposite sides of the house. So how do I share the connection?

I have two laptops both running Vista (one 64 bit, one 32 bit) but where I am living I can only connect one to the internet at a time via an ethernet cable. Both have built in wireless capability.
